Scott was born in 1957 and raised in Stevensville, MT in the Bitterroot Valley near Missoula. The son of a veterinarian, his roots are from Colorado & Wyoming ranch families. Growing up in rural Montana instilled a lifetime work ethic that started with stacking hay, changing sprinklers and working livestock.
He received a BS in Business and Finance from the University of Montana in 1981. After moving to Colorado he was awarded the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation in 1984. Scott practiced broad-based financial planning for more than a decade, then let his CFP lapse in 1997 to concentrate on investment management.
Scott joined Omnivest Financial Services, Inc. in 1989 and was named Vice President in 1992. The firm changed its name to Value Financial Advisers, Inc. on January 1, 2005. Scott has been continuously employed by the adviser since 1989 where he continues as VP and a member of the Investment Committee.
After 40 + years running western U.S. white water rivers with his own raft, Scott now concentrates on fishing calmer waters. Married for 22 years, he and his wife own a second home near Flathead Lake in Montana.
